The Lagunas Norte Mine is Boroo's flagship asset and one of the largest gold mines in Peru. Located in the District of Quiruvilca in the Province of Santiago de Chuco, in the La Libertad Region of northern Peru, the Complex sits approximately 150 km east of the coastal city of Trujillo.

Production History

The Lagunas Norte Mine is a traditional open-pit truck-and-shovel operation that commenced commercial production in March 2005. Through to the end of 2024, the mine had recovered 10.79 million ounces of gold and 12.53 million ounces of silver from approximately 282.5 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 1.51 g/t Au and 3.96 g/t Ag, with prior average annual production of approximately 605 koz and peak production of 1.2 Moz. Up until June 2021, the mine was operated by Barrick Mining Corporation, from whom Boroo acquired the asset.

Mining and Processing

Operations include open-pit mining of gold-silver ore using conventional drill, blast, load and haul methods, followed by precious-metal extraction through heap leaching and the CMOP (Mill / CIL) plant. Since acquisition, production has primarily been derived from processing legacy ore stockpiles and previously stacked material on the existing leach pads. Commercial production at the CMOP plant commenced in August 2023, enabling recovery of gold from approximately 15 million tonnes of previously mined and stockpiled carbonaceous ore.
