SINGAPORE – December 9, 2021 – Boroo Pte. Ltd (“Boroo” or “the Company”) today announced the appointment of Nelson Pizarro Contador, former Chief Executive Officer of Codelco (Corporación del Cobre de Chile), to its Advisory Board of Directors as Vice Chairman.
Mr. Pizarro will bring over five decades of professional experience in the mining industry and corporate leadership, and a long-track record of developing and managing megaprojects. During his tenure as CEO of Codelco, Mr. Pizarro led the development of 7 megaprojects, culminating in the launch of the Chuquicamata Subterránea project.

Mr. Pizarro is a civil mining engineer from University of Chile, with more than 50 years of experience in the mining industry in a broad range of areas, including project administration, management, design and planning. He began his career at Lota Schwager then joined Cemento Melón as Mine Manager of Navio mine. In 1974, Mr. Pizarro joined Los Bronces mine, where he worked as Technical Manager and General Manager.
Mr. Pizarro joined Andina Division of Codelco in 1990, where he worked as General Manager. Subsequently, in 1995, he became General Manager of Chuquicamata Division of Codelco. In 1997, he was appointed as General Manager of Los Pelambres project and subsequently served as Mining VP of Antofagasta Minerals.
Between 2003 and 2006, Mr. Pizarro worked as Executive Vice-President of Codelco's Norte Division. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Codelco in 2014, Mr. Pizzarro had been working as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Minera Lumina Copper Chile, a subsidiary of Pan Pacific Copper. From 2014 until 2019, he served as CEO of Codelco, world’s largest copper producer.
